firstly, love and greetings to all - i've been lurking here and elsewhere for a long time and have benefitted more than i can say.

i'm still in - i have a genuine fear that coming out would kill my mother - but i've recently taken the first step away.

i told a non-jw friend that i knew it was all a load of nonsense and i didn't believe any of it.

i have just spoken to a brother who is part of a group of single brothers and sisters who meet together once a week to discuss bible topics and he has been told by and elder that the organisation "banned" these private meetings years ago.

i told him i remember that article but he is adamant that the society would never do that (!

) now i am fairly sure i remember that article whether it was in a km or one of the mags i cant recall but i am sure i remember them saying we needed nothing more than the food that the slave class provided (another means to control us),does anyone have the details of that article because i have said i will find it and let him have it.

Well years ago they used to say that having a get together and discussing upbuilding topics from the Bible publications was a great way to spend time together and extend hospitality.

They need to make up their minds, right? Because if we can't get together and discuss the WT study, natcherly we'll get together and smoke some big doobs and play wild music with a keg in the basement and...hey, can you bring your drums over and also an amp...the nachos are on me, YEAH!!!

Asking for money...AGAIN

i live in the uk ,a letter was read as local announcements on thursday about the relocation of london bethel and the need to donate (yes they are blatantly asking the flock )..more money .considering the fact the london bethel is located in one of the most expensive areas of london ,the sale of of these buildings will bring in hundrends of millions of pounds in revenue.there is no need asking for more money .as one poster posted here 11 years ago on the same project that nows seems to be going ahead the conservative estimates are that they will get approx 193.5m for the site (inc bittacy hill) and the new greenfield site (whichever) wil cost less that 35m.

whip up the building committes and up it goes foc (materials are estimated @ 9.23m).that was an estimate 11 years ago..so my question is did you had this letter read in your local announcements recently?

i see a pattern emerging also the sale and relocation of bethel houses build in prime land that are worth alot of money to less expensive areas and the generation of million of pounds in income .so not only makinf money off local refurfrfbrisment projects but milking it off bethel homes sale.

Have you heard of brothers arriving in an area with practically nothing, maybe after having left Bethel or come back from a missionary assignment. The local brothers pitch in to build a nice house, especially since the old parents will be able to live in the basement apartment.

A few years go by, circumstances change, the house gets sold for a lot of money. BOOM! the guy is wealthy now. Off he and his family go, they move far away. Who knows what they're doing - maybe starting the whole cycle over again.

Is that a PLAN, or what!

My August Update

i don't really have a purpose in this thread, but wanted to share my thoughts and updates.. fading has, at least for now, totally stabilized.

my jw wife doesn't discuss jw things and, as difficult for me as it is, i haven't been discussing anything directly against jw policy.

oh, i slip in comments when she tries to judge people or groups based on her jw training- things like gay marriage, medical marijuana, pedophile news stories.

Terrific update, sounds like cognitive dissonance is working better than you might realize.

We were just talking this morning about how when we first joined we were frequently urged to read the bound volumes, learn past history of the Society. Now we're aware that the old light is less desirable and close examination is being discouraged.

Remember how we were bombarded with the "examine the origins" of holidays and customs, OH the reason for the origin of everything is so important to Jehovah. We can't recognize a birthday because even though people feel happy to have their birthday celebrated and they feel slighted when their family members ignore their birthday, we're avoiding offending Jehovah.

Well they are getting offended by their OWN origins now.

And after 30 years of ignoring family's birthdays we are finding how great birthdays really are. We don't give a flip about the origins.

if armageddon is coming "very soon", why go to all that time & effort & expense?

why have thousands of jws dedicating their time to this massive effort instead of the "lifesaving ministry"?.

I've always been slow on the uptake. Suddenly the clear picture arrived - They aren't getting ready for the big A! They are getting ready to get underground in their big panic rooms when all the millions of disgruntled ex-JW come to finish them off!

GB: You KNOW Manhattan is going to be destroyed. Jehovah can't protect you if you're in Manhattan? I thought if you were ready for big A it didn't matter where you were. Is not the GB in the "center of the org?" That was supposed to be all that is needed to be protected through A! Or excuse me, I guess that's all you could do so that Jehovah "MAY" save you.

You're so sure, you KNOW, what Jehovah thinks, who should be cut off and ignored, when Jehovah is saddened, when this system is ending Jehovah had a deal with you to be sure and tell you FIRST, right?

And who in the hell is that WE you're talking about, "WE'LL have beautiful buildings to use after Armageddon," WHAT??!! I know you're not inviting me up there to the safety wilderness.

Was it my imagination or didn't the WT make fun of so-called survivalists? All of a sudden the GB are sh!ttin' their drawers to dig a big luxurious hole to climb into and pull in behind them. Or maybe it's the tornado shelter like in that movie about Dorothy and Toto and Kansas.

OH my yes, it's so important that the administrators of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society survive a catastrophe, what would Jehovah do without them in the devastation? The survivors would be in dire need of tracts and tawks that take their minds off everything. Tracts and Talks, Tracts and Talks. Maybe they can form a band and go on tour. Big Splane and His Talks and Tracts. Music soothes the savage rank and file.
